Making Your House Dog-Friendly
Flooring is the first thing that you should start with. You find that dogs always prefer hard floors which they can sleep on during warm weather to keep them fresh . Hardwood floors are also recommended for the dog since they are friendly. It is necessary that you don’t spread hair or carpet for them on the floor as this may contain some insects or bacteria that may harm them . Alternatively you can trim the nails of your dog to prevent it from destroying your floor. You can know that their nails are long by the sound they are producing while moving around.
Apart from that you should also watch out for any poisonous substance in the house and electricity. It is necessary that you make sure that the chemicals or other toxic substances that can harm dogs are kept in a safe place where the dog cannot reach. You should also check the houseplants that you have as others are poisonous and can kill your dog. You should also know that electricity is dangerous to dogs just like it is to human beings. All the lose cables should be fixed and put in the right place. You should also ensure that the cables are insulated to prevent the dogs from shock when they step on them.
Another thing that you should do is to avoid white or bright things. Such things will be ruined very easily as dogs can easily see and scratch them. So make sure that when you are stocking your furniture make sure you go for the ones with dull colors. Another thing that you should do is to put strong things in your house to prevent them from being broken by dogs.
Another thing you should do is to set an area in the house specifically for the dog. This area should be a dog-friendly area where you put the dog things for playing like toys, their bed, mat and many other things. You can as well build them a kennel.
You should also prevent the dog from eating your food by locking the kitchen cabinet doors. Another thing that you should do is to make sure you dispose of the kitchen wastes correctly especially the bones which dogs can break into pieces, and they can hurt someone. Keep only the things that are not interesting the dog to prevent them from spreading the litter.
Apart from that you should also clear tables after every meal. It is obvious that the dog will try to reach out for anything edible. In the process they can end up breaking the plates or the glasses that were set on the table.
